NUNIA

The Republic of the Fiji Islands is an archipelago of about 322 islands in the South Pacific. Nunia Tupou  and her husband live in the capital, Suva. They have five children ranging in age from 35 to 21.

Nunia became a Christian in 1969 and has been involved with KYB since 1988, not long after the Bible study ministry began in Fiji. She has led an English-speaking group since that time, meeting on Wednesday afternoons.  “I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for KYB. Being involved with KYB has been a real strength to me”, Nunia said. The Wednesday group is currently studying Mark.

Nunia spends most days of the week helping others with studies and in practical ways. On Mondays she helps a mother with six children, whose husband is in prison, with Bible Study and providing food.

KYB studies are being translated into Fijian and Nunia is excited because she realises that this will open up opportunities among the Fijian women who live out of the main urban areas.  The first translated study, Ruth, is complete.  The translation work was carried out by Elenoa Rokomasi and her KYB group in California, USA.  They are currently working on the second study, James

There are several KYB groups in Suva. Mere Tan works in Suva and assists Nunia in the KYB ministry.

Mozima Singh also leads a KYB group in Suva and her group includes some Korean women.  They will soon begin the KYB study Daniel.

The Director of the Prison Ministry in Fiji is Mr Jack Simpson. He has introduced KYB studies as a follow-up for introductory Bible courses in the prisons.  In some cases it is compulsory for inmates to do the studies.

We praise God for those who serve Him in the ministry of KYB in Fiji.
